The Rose and Crown is an old school local's boozer of the kind we have a soft spot for here at Fancyapint?. It's the kind of pub you know is not going to carry on like this for much longer in these spreadsheet-driven times. The place will inevitably get refurbished, when the old management moves on. In the meantime, what you get is a quaint little pub, populated with a bunch of locals who know everyone else in the place, drink pints and pink gins and don't seem to mind when strangers (ie us) turn up. The walls are decorated with all sort of celebrity memorabilia (mainly signed pictures - a lot of boxing ones) and there's a homely atmosphere about the place. The beer's good, the food is genuine, honest pub grub and the service, fast and friendly. Enjoy it while you can.
