picture of Duke of WellingtonBoth better and less well known than the nearby King's Oak, this is a rather charming pub a few minutes from High Beech. Sat in between a golf course and some woodland, it makes for the perfect 19th hole, as well as a good resting point for the families and couples enjoying the large grassed back garden and the good food. The kids certainly enjoyed the swings and the small horse paddock next door. Although its likely very few punters would live nearby, there were clearly some regulars up at the bar and the atmosphere was generally most congenial. Overall, certainly a worthwhile place to visit if you're having a drive around Epping Forest.

Eating at the Duke of Wellington ... we last ate here on 15/07/2007

Bar snack menu (featuring burgers, ham,egg & ships, jacket potatoes etc) reasonably priced and perfectly edible, although not outstanding.
