Somehow, over the years, we've managed to miss popping in to review 25 Canonbury Lane. It's not exactly hidden, being both usually pretty busy and visible just off Upper Street. Perhaps its because the nearby Compton Arms usually receives our attention. Still, better late than never, as it's a worthwhile inclusion to Fancyapint. A tiny place inside, its opulently decorated, with gilt mirrors, fresh flowers and baby-blue wooden panels. In compensation for a selection of average beer, there's an extensive cocktail list and reasonably priced tapas-style finger food available to keep the hunger pangs at bay. Importantly for a place like this, the clientele are also pleasantly mixed, albeit in an upmarket sort of way. Overall, if you're after a more genteel experience at the northern end of Upper Street, '25' is considerably better than the nearby Medicine Bar and might just fit the bill.
