picture of The BoathouseThere would be no surprises if we told you that a huge pub in Putney with fantastic views of the Thames gets pretty busy at the merest hint of summer. And that's exactly what happens at the Boathouse. As is the fashion these days, this Young's pub appears to be an old Victorian building with a glass edifice tacked uneasily onto the front, primarily to enable all-weather views of the Thames. Whether such a thing is aesthetically pleasing is, of course, a different matter. Indeed, the same might also be said for the novelty of Pimms on tap, for which we assume the ingredients beyond lemonade are added afterwards. The overall ambience here can often be rather noisy and later in the evening it can get pretty raucous, especially in the front bar as it fills to standing room capacity with young patrons. If this isn't your idea of fun and would prefer some relaxed Thameside drinking, it might be better to save this place for a sunny midweek afternoon.
