picture of CrayfishEvidently a pub that is trying to turn itself around after some hard times, the Crayfish deserves to succeed. Although it wasn't very busy when we popped in (and when the more substantial saloon bar was closed), it offered a friendly welcome and was notably less intimidating than some other places nearby. The provision of WiFi access and of an MP3 jukebox seemed a little incongruous in what is in other ways a very old fashioned (and fairly small) public bar: the three darts boards seem to have brought in a fair number of trophies. There's a beer garden, and occasional discos too. So, while it's difficult to assess fully the qualities of an almost empty pub, we wish the management well in their efforts, and will be back sometime to see if the Crayfish has earned the higher rating we feel it may be capable of.
