This place is quite an impressive building taking up most of the square, everything else shaped around it. It used to be the only pub in Petts Wood but since the competition opened up on the other side of the railway bridge, it's been modernised every so often, draining it of any of the character it once had. At one time it was certainly the better option, but more recently it has faltered. The beer selection, wine and food is pretty good, but the atmosphere tends to be rather loutish and ill-mannered (particularly when the sport is on, on the big screens). Such behaviour is actually quite surprising considering the area is known for being quiet and posh with expensive houses. It's worth mentioning there is quite a large nonsmoking area which is usually a bit more relaxing. In the pub's favour, if it happens to be a warm day, the pleasant beer garden in what is a relatively quiet area does make it a rather nice place to spend an afternoon in the summer.
