The Crown, West Wickham  

The Crown is a robust mock-tudor looking tavern just off the Trinity School roundabout in Shirley, uplit by a glowing Embers Inn logo. First impressions are: large, modern, slightly clinical - but in fact, this is quite a cheerful busy pub with a varied mix of punters. There's a reasonable range of ales on tap (Adnams and Pride to name two), plenty of seating, and meals are served till 8. Clientele range from those about to club (benign variety), to middle-aged post-work boozers. It probably has some regulars, but doesn't possess that genuine 'local' feel. Overall, this pub is a steady option for those in the area, and as it opens late on Fridays and Saturdays, will come in handy now and then for extended sessions.
