Lord Raglan, Slade Green  

To be positive, this pub has a reasonably attractive exterior, promising good porters and ales that, presumably, were once offered here long ago. (Nowadays, one has to make do with run-of-the-mill keg beers, bottled light ale, or the half-bottles of wine that seem to rather popular hereabouts, and so on.) The interior is mostly in good nick too - disconcertingly so, in fact; the wooden Venetian blinds (even on the window on the entrance doors) and the polished wood finish of the walls (and seating) are rather out of keeping with the rather less unrefurbished carpet and, to be honest, with the general atmosphere of the pub, which would appear to be that of a local pub for local people. We felt stared at on entering, and there was something of an abundance of solitary drinkers stringing out their hours, watching the football results come in. The "estate agent's fantasy" style of the pub's interior extends to the rather bizarre omission of cushioning on most of the seating. This hardness is more in keeping with the rather unwelcoming feel of the pub, and many people might soon get bored of the constant humming of 'fuck, fuck, fuck' from the regulars. Unless you live nearby, there's no need to come here, truth be told.
