The Hob, Forest Hill  

A remodelled Hobgoblin pub, this one still retains that chain's slight studenty air. Very much a pub geared to entertainment: dependent on when you turn up it could be a pub quiz, live music, karaoke or the rather itinerant East Dulwich Comedy Club that's bringing in the punters. Otherwise, there's a pool table and plenty of games machines to snaffle up your change. There's friendly service from the staff - remarkable, given that they have to cope with punters asking for guest ales with such names as Spanker. It's possibly more live venue than local pub, but there's an individuality to this one that marks it out from the local competition and that's won us over as well.
