picture of The ShipA rite of passage for many a young Croydonian, The Ship is a pub where rock and indie still rule and families of Goths and wearers of Birthday Party T-shirts make up the clientele. It's got a lively feel and (perhaps surprisingly) a great range of beers. DJs most nights of the week, though they'd be hard pressed to better the in-house sound system that was unearthing some great Sixties gems when we were last in. All this and cheap food to boot. A fine place, and one worth the stroll through the boulevard du Chav that leads to it. Oh, and a pub that has a picture of David Niven on the door of its Gents must be doing something right.
