This is a welcoming and unpretentious neighbourhood pub, neither exceptional nor offensive. There's a big public bar with a pool table, sports TV and chatty ambiance, with a beer garden attached. The saloon bar is smaller, and although a little quieter, doesn't really have a markedly different atmosphere from the public bar (this being classless Britain, or something.) There's also a sizable dining area, with a scenic view of the car park and some rather ugly housing; the view inside is rather better, as the decor of the room appears to aspire towards that of what one might describe as that of an olde worlde country inn. A mixed bunch of locals drink at the Cherry Tree, and the pub seems to be popular with families at weekend afternoons. There's also regular live entertainment'; on our visit gigs by a singer offering a tribute to Frank Sinatra, and by a group of male strippers were advertised, which, between them, probably give a fairly accurate idea of the intended and actual clientele of the pub, as does the regular scheduling of karaoke evenings.
