how to find it:

Manor House: take exit 7 and walk up Green Lanes for about 15 minutes(or catch the 29/141 there). Pub is on the left. From Turnpike Lane tube: walk towards the large sign for the bus garage but take the exit on your left. Once on the street you should be opposite the park. Turn left and walk down Green Lanes for about 15 mins. The pub will be on the other side of the road. Again the 141 and 29 busses pass it. Nearest BR Station is Harringay Green Lanes.

picture of The Old Ale EmporiumOutside, The Old Ale Emporium looks a bit unloved. The paint on the sign has faded and is starting to peel. Inside is not much better - ramshackle and dark. After a period not serving ales (which was a shame considering its descriptive name and all the ornamental wooden ale casks dotted about) there are now four to choose from. Unfortunately there were problems with the Deuchars, but the landlord was pleasant enough about replacing it, which is the important thing. Even so, what could have been a grubby old mans pub had a varied mix of people and friendly service. The jukebox was playing some pretty decent tunes, as the locals eschewed the R'n'B for Led Zeppelin and Free. Although not a pub to everyone's taste, its the atmosphere which makes this one work for us.
