The plaque outside says 'Greene King' but this one's a far cry from the other pub in the area that serves their beers. The Fox & Pheasant is straight from the old school; this one's more public school. Yes, it's a gastropub, but we feel it's one that's had a bit of thought put into it. It's not a large space but it's been arranged in a smart and tidy way. We particularly like the fact that the speakers for the TV hang over the drinking area (a long, high, table that's closer to terracing than anything in Stamford Bridge) and so needn't disrupt the diners. We're also rather impressed at the cost of the food - all meals under a tenner - particularly now that some gastros are charging up to eighty quid for a meal for two. What the atmosphere's like on match day remains to be seen, but if any club has fans that'll dip into a bar for a quick drink and a Strawberry Eton Fool Mess, it's present day Chelsea.
