We remember this one as a pub big on special promotions, games machines and a big screen for the sport. mostly catering for the posties from across the road. All gone, as this one is yet another pub that's been refitted under Mitchells and Butlers Nicholson's brand. The order of the day now is a mock historical feel (unlike the some of the jewels in the original Nicholson's crown), reminiscent of the many other 'new' Nicholson's across the West End. It's all very corporate, all very clean, and every so slightly stifling (ironic given the decent aircon was very welcome in the recent hot spell). Sure, you're sorted for a pint and a spot of pub grub, but there's nothing here to mark it out as a pub with its own sense of self. Which given the rich pub history of Fitzrovia is all rather sad.
