Not much changed over the years, the Old Fountain is a traditional boozer, tucked away in a side street in an unfashionable part of the city. There are very good, well-kept beers on the hand pumps (the Everard's Beacon went down very nicely), a mixed, but genial enough crowd and an adequate range of pub grub to cater for the lunchtime trade. Having not been for a while, we were heartily cheered to see the fish tank is still there, although we didn't recognise any of the fish. Sometimes, we need things to stay as they are - if it works, why change it? The Old Fountain proves the point. On a final note, although it's a popular lunchtime haunt, it can sometimes get rather quiet later in the evening, which is either a good or bad thing depending on what you're after.
