how to find it:

The pub is just opposite Wood Street railway station. You can catch the overground from Liverpool Street or Walthamstow Central (which is the closest you're going to get to this one by tube). The pub is just across the road - can't miss it. There are buses, but check Transport for London for best way to get there.

picture of The Plough InnIf you want a pub that does everything, then this is probably the one for you. Since its renovation in 2003, this gigantic pub has been working at being the entertainment venue for East London and it seems to be pretty successful. It's one of the few that shows movies, thanks to the McGuffin film society's recent schedule of films until decisions are made on the future of the EMD Cinema - the only cinema in Walthamstow.

It's working hard to get the punters in with regular jazz and blues nights as well as a weekly quiz. With local theatre productions there is just about something for everyone here, and to be honest, the pub doesn't suffer for it. Gets busy, but hardly surprising with the state of some of the pubs in the area.

The beer's well kept and they have more than just their own beers on, with Leffe, Hoegaarden and Sagres and a guest bitter. They also do food and the wine list didn't look too shabby either. Bit of a trek, but worth checking out what's on as it's probably a good place to see the likes of Chas 'n' Dave or the Wurzels.
