This is not your average pub, it is safe to say. Firstly, what a location: right underneath the new DLR extension, marooned amid business complexes and industrial buildings, hemmed in by the busy Silvertown Way; just finding the place is a challenge. The pub's exterior is a once lovely Truman's combination of Art Deco brick and masonry. The windows are now all boarded up and we were surprised to find the place open. Inside, all traces of the pub's history have gone. Picture a purple, black and chrome interior with diamond-shaped mirrors and glitterballs, Miami Vice relocated to E16. Despite several hand pumps, no real ale is served but there is the rare treat of Nigerian export Guinness (a syrupy 7.5 ABV) straight from the fridge. This place seems caught midway in its transformation into a wine or music bar (a sign for Flavours Nite Club on the outside intrigues too). For now, it's a basketcase.
