how to find it:
George Street tram stop in central Croydon is fairly nearby. Otherwise you could walk from South Croydon or East Croydon stations. South Croydon station: turn right and continue up to the main Brighton Road. Then turn right and continue along the right-hand fork at South End. Continue ahead until the road become the High Street, and you'll find the pub on your left. East Croydon station: turn right and continue ahead over the main road. Then bear left down the High Street and keep going, beyond the flyover, until you find the pub on your right.

On the basis of what we saw, this pub certainly scores marks for the beer part of the name. There are lots of different varieties, draught and bottled, and one that's brewed in Belgium for them. The walls are covered with posters promoting all kinds of the stuff, and, for good measure, rows of hops hang above the bar. There is also a beer cellar. As for the circus... well, we definitely weren't there at show time. Beer Circus, despite (or because of?) its location slightly away from the centre of Croydon, has been quiet on both of the occasions we've stopped by. Despite the posters, the décor is rather bare, almost severe, even, and we really didn't know what to make of a board advertising 'cheez sandwiches - chavtastic!'. Not many places as specialist as this one, so if you like your Belgian beer give it a look.
