picture of The Old MonkBeset by flooding problems due to its basement location and shut for a while, the Old Monk has finally reopened in all its, er, splendour. Actually, it's not too bad - the food was hearty and there was some well kept Adnams Broadside. With plenty of standing space in the main area (read: sparse), the back was a better bet, with snug cubby-holes and a skylighted ceiling onto the street. Enjoying a pint and watching the commuters go by is rather disconcerting when seen from underneath. Ultimately this is a fairly generic office worker's pub, but it covers all the bases pretty well.
