Like Marmite, you'll love or hate this one. The crowds that gather to enjoy sun and lager here (in the beer garden and the side-road) testify to its popularity with the young of Clapham and beyond. Inside and out, it's a pleasant spot to while away an afternoon, with a large bright main bar. The yard bar only opens occasionally, whilst the upstairs bar is usually open evenings - also bright and airy, and sports real (gas) fires in winter. There's a pleasant artiness about the place and a curious fresco upstairs. The Thai food is recommended, and lunch for a fiver is a decent promise too. Well, that's the good bit. A limited range of beers at hefty prices, with Guinness and Staropramen on offer. In our experience, towards the end of the week the place is often so rammed you'll make slow progress at the bar which soon spoils your night. The staff may not wear blinkers, but they might as well. This pub has entertained Clapham's young for years, but until they sort out watering them reliably too, it'll be staying a two pinter for us. Shame, but we doubt it'll stop the summer crowds.
