When you're too trendy for, well, anything else in West Hampstead, it seems you go here - to The Gallery. Named presumably after the small galleried seating area, made possible by the high ceilings, it's seems to cater to the 30-something, wealthyish West Hampsteadites who enjoy reminiscing about moving here before it became fashionable. There's nothing wrong with the place, it's understated and the food is fine, if a little pricey. Quieter during the week - although never quiet, it used to be pleasantly lively on the weekends, but now often reaches saturation point - on our last visit it was so crowded it was akin to drinking on a rush-hour tube train. Nevertheless, one of the better venues in rather barren NW6.
