It's a JD Wetherspoon pub so you know what to expect: cheap, dingy, and full of starring solitary drinkers and pensioners. Inside the air is heavy with an oppressive melancholy. Outside, if you want some sort of light, you'll find a few chairs on the Broadway where, in the interests of public health, smokers are banished to breath in the fumes from the constant flow of traffic. This said, there are one or two redeeming features: there is something more akin to atmosphere than you will find in most of this chain's pubs - on one visit we heard a regular bantering about Gaelic games with a bar man - and the clientele are harmless enough. This is faint praise, of course, but it's the best we can find to say.
