Older Islingtonians will remember this as the Royal Mail, but now it's another Upper Street watering hole that's gone for the stripped out with sofas interior. We have to say, however, it's rather more appealing than some of its neighbours, with the addition of plants, mirrors and paintings putting across a rather luxurious old colonial feel. Fairy lights wrapped around posts and pots provide subtle illumination. It's just a shame that a venue which could hold a couple of hundred people is only allowed 60 patrons at a time because of fire regulations, which can result in a small queue. Of course, if you get in the chances of finding a seat are improved and getting a pint is a breeze. Also, we're not sure if work is afoot, but at present the men's toilets are among the smelliest in London.
