The closest pub to Crystal Palace football ground - don't even think about it on match days. Then a membership systems keeps the sardine-tin ambience happily in check and the punters supplied with London Pride, Young's and regular guest bitters with no more than a couple of minutes' wait and a strong pair of elbows. The rest of the week it's a bigger than average, rather under-utilised decent family boozer. Simple built in-benches with bog standard tables and chairs, a nice little patio area outside, cheerful staff and acceptable food make it a puzzle why it doesn't draw more trade. Decent and comfortable it somehow doesn't quite work. A ten - or a thousand - pinter for the Palace faithful. OK for normal human beings.
