how to find it:
Ladbroke Grove: turn left out of the tube, and head right along the pedestrian walkway that runs next to the Westway. Soon enough, you'll come to Portobello Road. Turn left there and you'll soon find the pub on your right, at the corner of Golborne Road.

One of those places that never seems to settle on an identity - we can remember it as both Bed and the Caernarvon Castle in the last few years - it's now been relaunched as a gastropub. We didn't chance the upstairs dining room when we stopped by, so we can't vouch for the British gastrofare menu. Sticking to the pub though, it's quite a small space and is laid out with the familiar gastro furnishings of leather sofas and armchairs, a chandelier and exclusive wallpaper. As for the drink on offer, a lengthy wine list looked worthy of investigation: a shame we didn't give it a closer look as the Timothy Taylor Landlord (the only ale on tap) was poorly kept. Not a good sign either to find the hand dryer in the gents to be on the blink. Small matters you may argue, but to us it's not a good sign when a pub struggles with these basics.
