how to find it:
From Woolwich Arsenal station, cross General Gordon Place and walk down Powis Street (more or less straight ahead of you) for a few minutes - it's the main pedestrianised shopping street in Woolwich. Turn right into Hare Street (at Dorothy Perkins) and the pub is on your left, near the end.

Woolwich is not renowned for fine drinking establishments, it's fair to say. Since the dockyard shut years back, and the work dried up, the area has been under a cloud. Rose's (confusingly also known as the Prince Albert) offers hope on the pub front. It's a classic old-school boozer with a friendly atmosphere, careworn upholstery and a narcoleptic pub dog. Dropping in for the mythical "swift pint", we've often ended up spend the evening here, plundering the excellent jukebox and chatting to the locals. Real ale fans will appreciate the three (regularly changing) guest ales on offer. Simple, tasty filled rolls (only 85p each) should keep hunger at bay too. Should thirst master you in Woolwich, you simply cannot do better.
