picture of Queens HeadWinchmore Hill, in contrast to its neighbour Palmers Green, has a fair few good pubs and The Queen's Head is the cream of the crop. The décor - with unreconstructed bare floorboards, throw-covered couches and mix-matched furniture - is somewhere between a traditional pub, a student flatshare and a Hoxton Bar. The overall effect is warm and relaxed and although it seems to attract a few late 20s North London geezers, it doesn't detract from the overall atmosphere. The service is friendly, the music eclectic and the food, though not the cheapest, is usually excellent and hasn't been anywhere near a microwave. If this wasn't enough, they also have live Jazz on Sundays. A modern pub, done well; go take a look.
