picture of We Anchor in HopeThis pub's unusual name is not nautical, as you might think: it refers to the historic practice of carriage drivers using anchors to negotiate the steep Shooters Hill in slippery conditions. It's a big, big pub with a beer garden long enough to house a short par-3. Cheap beer (less than 2 pounds for some pints) and pub grub draws a crowd of locals, but overall, there's nothing special here.
