how to find it:

This one's probably nearer Highbury and Islington tube rather than Angel. From Highbury and Islington, exit the station and turn right and head down Upper Street. Cross over the road and when you walk past Islington Town Hall turn left down Florence Street (beside the petrol station) you'll see the pub on your right.

picture of The FlorenceIs it fair to say that Upper Street is the Forth Rail Bridge of pubs? By the time you've worked your way from Angel to Highbury & Islington it's a fair bet another pub or bar has popped up or been repainted. The refitted Florence is another once tatty place which benefited from a refurbishment a couple of years ago, resulting now in a rather swish looking pub. Upmarket décor (chandeliers above the bar, comfy leather chairs and arty black and white photos of N1) but there's still an air of normality to proceedings. The Thai food on offer won't empty your wallet out and with the money left over you have an adequate enough drink selection to choose from. We just hope it hasn't changed by the time we look in again...
