how to find it:

Exit Highbury and Islington tube, turn right then immediately right again down Highbury Station Road. Turn right when you hit Liverpool Road, keep walking and you'll soon see the pub over the road from you.

picture of Duchess of Kent Geronimo specialise in doing up boozers to match their gentrified surroundings. No surprises then, to find one of the newer additions to their group in on the up, erm, "Highbury borders" (Holloway). There's certainly been a bit of time and money spent on this one and a bit of thought too: though a narrow L-shaped pub, some wall mirrors at the back give it a greater sense of space. The lurid paint job has been toned down, thankfully, and the paintings seem to have changed to something more subtle - seems to be guest artists. There's good thinking on display behind the bar: as well as the lengthy wine list, some German beers (Bitburger and Prince Ludwig when we last looked in) jostle for space with Aspall's Cider, Adnams and Timothy Taylor Landlord. Oh, and the typeface on the exterior is reminiscent of a Double Diamond label. Probably unintentional though.
