A by-the-book bare boards pub that endeavours to pull in as many punters as possible. It does its best to tap into the crowds off to the Lyceum, which may explain why there are more flavoured coffees on offer than lagers and beers on tap. Pricey even for the West End, you could make the case for this one as a handy meeting point - but let's face it, there's plenty of pubs close by to who fit that description and who won't be charging you close to 4 a pint. The emphasis is on the food as much as the drink but it's all rather clinical and passionless: hard to believe anyone will feel any sort of attachment to this one. This address has housed a few pubs over the years and you get the impression that when the next Big Idea in pub design sweeps the capital, this one will be renovated and relaunched again.
