Whilst lounge pubs have found a natural home in prosperous Winchmore Hill, there's still a few watering holes nearby where there's little chance of words such as "bed of spinach" appearing on the menu. The Winchmore Arms is a throwback to a pre-gastropub world, one where nibbles are arrayed on the bar on Sunday afternoons. It doesn't make any great claims for itself nor does it need to: it's just a decent local pub with long standing attendance from its patrons. Whether the peaceable air of a Sunday afternoon is retained come the karaoke on Saturday night is a different story though. Still, this one's a decent (and increasingly rare) example of the friendly local boozer.
