how to find it:
From Elephant and Castle: From the nightmare roundabout that is Elephant and Castle, take St. George's Road, heading for Westminster/Waterloo. The pub is about a 5 minute walk, on the left hand side of the road. From Lambeth North: turn right onto Westminster Bridge Road and then cross over, taking the right hand fork onto St. George's Road. Keep going, crossing Lambeth Road too, and the pub is further down St. George's Road on your right.

This is a traditional boozer and very much a locals' pub, which looks more like a working man's club than anything else. And, despite the England flags everywhere, it has more than a hint of Irishness about it - and the Gaelic football on the telly last time we were in did nothing to dispel this feeling. Even so, everyone seemed quite content and fairly friendly when we were there. If you don't live nearby, there is probably no reason you would go here, but if you stumble out of the Imperial War Museum in the wrong direction, it's all right for a pint. With two fairly large rooms and a large outside area at the back, there is plenty of space, especially in summer. It does pub food, and everything costs a fiver. What we're most intrigued by is the offer of "Sunday Roast to take away" - beef, pork or lamb. No mucking about, it knows exactly what it's there for.
