picture of The KilburnOnce upon a time, when the area didn't have a plethora of pubs and bars aimed at young professionals, this was all part of a large Irish pub. McGovern's survives, but now only as a small venue in the right-hand corner, ceding most of the floor space to the Kilburn Bar & Kitchen. The Kilburn, with its simple red and black décor, provides a perfect meeting point ahead of a gig at the Luminaire upstairs and is certainly worth considering when seats are a premium in nearby haunts such as the North London Tavern or Brondesage. It hasn't quite caught the imagination of the locals like its rivals, but with good tunes and a 5-8 p.m. happy hour on Friday evening it shouldn't be discounted. However, real ale drinkers may face disappointment as much as lovers of cocktails and shooters can rejoice. Head to one of the three large booths for the most comfortable experience.
