Loughton: Leaving the station, continue ahead, and when the road forks by Sainsbury's take the right fork, Station Road. At the end turn right along High Road, and you'll room find the pub on your right.

picture of Last PostOne generally has a fair idea to expect with JD Wetherspoon pubs, and The Last Post is, as it happens, better than many. An elegant red brick construction, on our weekday lunchtime visit the pub was surprisingly busy, with a large host of, principally retired, regulars. The usual JDW wide range of (very) reasonably priced beers and food are in evidence. Despite the crowd, service was both quick and polite. Although there are better, and more atmospheric, pubs around about, the Last Post does what it does quite adequately.
