how to find it:

Not near any stations, or particularly close to any form of public transport, the easiest way to get here is probably to get the 150 bus from Hainault tube or Ilford train station to the last stop on the route at Chigwell Row (Maypole). From there, walk along Manor Road for about 10-15 minutes. You'll find the pub on your left a few hundred metres after the built-up area ends.

sorry no picture of this pubAn overpoweringly large establishment that includes both a spacious bar and a three-storey Beef eatery, Camelot is blessed with a relatively scenic location. Hills roll gently to the west, blackberry-, conker- and horse rider-filled Hainault Forest lies immediately to the South, magnificent (wo) men in their flying machines frequently pass overhead, thanks to the proximity of Stapleford Aerodrome. There are plenty of tables outside, generously arranged across a refreshingly green area, ideal for summer afternoon drinks, and close, but (possibly) not too close, to a children's play area. It's a pity, then, that, inside, the pub is rather formulaic and bland, and haunted by the inescapable stench of the most tedious brand of middle-of-the-road music imaginable. Therefore, we reckon that, when the weather permits, you'd be better off enjoying the draught London Pride or Flowers outside, as the atmosphere of oppressive and uncultured banality inside soon grates. Another thing: despite the isolated location in remotest Lambourne End, Camelot is not really a local village pub, but attracts people who drive in from miles around. The clientele are pure Sarf Essex: mouthy blokes in loud shirts sporting excessive quantities of bad jewellery and hair-gel, and girls showing off their navels left right and centre as if they were a biological innovation. Of course, some might regard this in a positive light...
