picture of The Town HouseFirst impression: it's big. Second impression: where is everybody? Given the fact that it's next door to a railway station and it was 8pm on a Saturday evening this was somewhat confusing. Perhaps its emptiness was due to the fact the place was quite horrible. For starters, the place smelt bad - a mixture of cleaning products and old beer. Then there was the lack of chairs or tables, making the barn-size downstairs look like a school hall. Then we realised everyone was hiding upstairs, where there was a marginally better atmosphere and a few extra seats to be had. We know crowds descend en masse later on, to take advantage of the late licence. As such, we can imagine its a bit of a cash cow, but if places like this help subsidise some of Fuller's nicer pubs, then we're happy to see it there. We just never want to go there ever again.
