Back in the 1930s when beer was 6d a pint, George Orwell, Dylan Thomas and other assorted bohemians drank here. These days, the beer has gone up in price and the pub always seems oddly, and pleasantly, quiet (except for just after work, towards the weekend). A couple of real ales, and a lunchtime menu, are on offer. There's some nice stained glass here too. If you have a soft spot for atmospheric old boozers, give it a try.
