The Oval (750m)
Unless you live nearby, the Wheatsheaf is probably one of those places you sail pass on one of the southbound buses from Vauxhall bus station. It's an attractive pub from the outside and the interior hasn't been mucked about with too much, even if it can feel a bit dark. Out the back is a pleasant enough small beer garden and one half of the pub appeared to be eating only, due to the cutlery laid out, but there's also a pretty comprehensive bar menu. Service began somewhat cold and disinterested, but improved as time went by, while on the hand pumps Landlord and Courage were both adequately kept, if a little warm. Not exactly busy on our Monday visit, we're inclined to give a two pint rating, but feel that if you catch it on the right day a three pint rated time would be easily to have.
