picture of The Sun Lounge (ex-Ye Olde Rising Sun)Built on the site of the former Rising Sun, The Sun bears all the hallmarks of a quick-fix job. The garden area at the back still holds bags of rubble, there are already chips in the MDF doors and things are already looking worn. This is the sort of place that makes you feel like you've come on holiday by mistake. Gaudy glittery light fittings, massive faux-baroque mirrors and way too much Gypsy Kings coming out of the sound system add to the 'continental' ambience. This place might prove popular with North London's bling-happy young folk who are after a night out without trekking up to town. It's got a dance floor and everything. Whoopee. However, the area is already stuffed with third-rate café bars, and it really didn't need another one. (New picture to come).
