An ancient, tiny little pub that's great when it's not rammed (avoid lunch times and early evenings). It is very charming and olde worlde and would be just the thing for the tourists if it wasn't already packed with people from the surrounding law courts. There's an excellent selection of well-kept ale on the hand pumps, decent pub grub and friendly service make this one well worth a visit if you're in the area. Watch out for the precipitous stairs to the toilets (especially when you've had a few) and for the resident pub cat Tom Paine (recently seen sporting a white ruff). Oh, and it's also one of the few pubs in the square mile that you'll find open seven days a week.
