picture of Angel and CrownThere are plenty of watering holes in Richmond, though with most of the local folk heading to either the pubs on the river or the Green when thirsty, you may want to keep this one in mind if you're after a less-pressurised drinking environment. Handily situated down an alley off the main drag, it's a decent Fuller's house, a pretty decent modern take on an urban pub. Distinctively for this neck of the woods, there is no sporting memorabilia, the look being more bare brick walls and wooden floors, with music of a new world stylie when we were in. This one serves a good mix of punters and with flat TV screens and Sky, it fills up when the football or rugby is on. The pub is not huge, but offers a possibly OTT array of bar stools, booths, benches, tables, high tables and leaning alcoves, with some seats outside in the alley to offer a bit of air or peace. Usual range of Fuller's beers, and on the value front, jugs of Carling for £10. They also have a range of Absolut concoctions, presumably to sink when the music starts pumping (if this is allowed in Richmond). Sandwiches and pub grub on offer too, at the appropriate times.
