picture of The CraneThe Crane is located on Armoury Way in Wandsworth, a short distance from the Thames Path. It's no surprise to find it's a Young's pub, given we're in Young's heartland and almost on top of the brewery. The Crane's exterior suggests a small, no-nonsense Wandsworth boozer but inside it's a slightly different story. The interior is a slightly bizarre and mismatched combination of a typical local and trendy Hackney bar. Not that this seems to faze anyone at all; the clientele all seem to be locals and there's no sign of a Hoxton mullet anywhere. One side of the pub seems to be very much "the pub" side with a workmanlike bar offering a good selection of beers (no prizes for guessing which), whereas the other offers a roaring fire and the kind of low leather sofas you have trouble getting out of (especially after a few pints of Special) and tables set out for diners. There was a very good selection of food. Overall, a great little pub well worth a visit if you're in the area.
