Turn right from Peckham Rye station and walk along the main road for five minutes, before taking the second right into Choumert Road; the pub is two minutes walk on the left.

picture of Wishing WellWith an attractive interior of wood carvings and old master reproductions, the Wishing Well impresses when you enter the pub. Hoegaarden and Pedigree on tap, and an inexpensive Thai menu, are definite plus points. An elegant back room has a couple of pool tables if you fancy a game, and the staff were smart and friendly. In an area where the pubs are pretty much divided into gastro and ghastly, the Wishing Well is your best bet if you're after a good, local boozer.
