picture of The OxfordCome in here and ask for a pint of beer (Pride or Hobgoblin when we looked in) and it comes in a dimpled, handled glass. Before you start expecting rolls in cling film, it should be pointed out that this one's been redesigned by the same people who did the gastro makeover up at the North London Tavern in Kilburn. Handled glasses aside, this one's very much in keeping with a standard gastropub arrangement: bar area at the front, open plan kitchen at the side, dining area at the back and the giant blackboard menu on the rear wall. It's probably not the market they're after, but this one does a decent enough job for a drink both before and after a gig at The Forum. We can't quibble with the friendly and prompt service we received here, but the makeover of this one does leave us wondering: what with the rising number of food-orientated pubs and bars in the area, was another gastropub really the best way to makeover the old Jorene Celeste?
