picture of The Hop PolesOnly one beer on the pumps when we were last in - Courage Best, but that hardly seemed to matter to the clientele, who were sipping white wine and predominantly female. For a Thursday night it was surprisingly quiet, but the music TV (The Vault) on the screens and the presence of pub disco hardware indicates the place's real intent. When it's not busy, it's not a great place for a quiet drink - not much atmosphere and when it is busy, it is by all accounts, a veritable school disco. Maybe it's a victim of its location, but nearby pubs do the pub thing better and nearby bars, likewise.
