picture of The Duke of EdinburghA couple of years back this one aimed for the pre-clubbing crowd (think full-on banging techno on a weekday afternoon); since then though, the Duke of Edinburgh has calmed down somewhat and is now one of the best pubs in Brixton. Despite the piss-lager-poor choice of beers, the service is friendly, with the classic 1930s decor of the pub equally charming. Add to that a beer garden which Rabelais's characters would have felt happy in (translation: it's very, very big), complete with giant barbecue in summer, and you end up with a boozer that's - really not bad at all.
