It's nice to know that not all pubs in Poplar have slipped into no-go local zones. A well kept house with friendly staff and bantering punters; we caught it just as Saturday night was kicking off and the lively atmosphere made us want to stay. There's decent ale on the hand pumps, including the not so easy to find (nowadays) Tetleys. There'll probably be sport on at least one of the TVs sometimes showing different sports on each of them, but that doesn't detract from the air of conviviality. One question though - we can understand an East End pub having darts trophies in it's cabinet, but how did they get the one for golf round here?
