Like its famous neighbour the Grapes, this pub enjoys a splendid location on the Thames. It has a fair history too, being originally a barge builders and later an inn called the Waterman's Arms. Although there's no river terrace, a couple of the window tables overlook the river. Sadly, our last visit left us wanting. The Sunday lunch was shameful - the worst we've eaten in a long time. Flavourless cheap cuts of meat, potatoes microwaved to thermo nuclear temperatures and soggy vegetables. They also add 10% service charge to "all meals", but be warned they add it to the drinks, too. Considering we ordered them at the bar before even thinking of eating, this was cheeky - we thought their suggestion to pay for them later was a courtesy. And was the extra 10% worth it? Considering the service was miserable and sullen, culminating in a 15 minute wait for our change, not really. To top it off we had to endure some 'smooth grooves' CD totally out of keeping with the clientele. This maybe a good location, but based on our last visit here, there are nearby places more deserving of custom.
