picture of The Prince AlbertOur suspicions are usually raised when a pub decides to opt for 'wacky' décor - its smacks of trying too hard. In the case of the Prince Albert, though, it pays not to judge too quickly. After recovering from the lurid exterior, its happily more sober inside - albeit still bright and breezy, but pretty relaxed and with a good selection of tunes playing. The back garden is great, too - covered almost entirely in a lush canopy of trees (well, in the Summer anyway). Like other pubs in Brixton, the mix of people is certainly varied, reflecting the area - old Jamaican men, young clubber types, geezers and couples all share the space with apparent ease. Essentially its pretty close to what many normal pubs were in the 1990s before the gastro 'revolution' and we're glad of that - it just adds to the rich diversity of drinking establishments you can find in Brixton.
